Let the Journey begin….
Well done, we are happy to have you join Peter Hollowood and his Dojo of Champions…
No matter your reason for beginning your journey to a Black Belt, remember that all great journeys start with a single step. It’s OK to travel at your own pace, this is your journey and for you to fully enjoy it, you must do whats right for you.
It’s also important to remember that you don’t need to be better than the one next to you, you just need to be better than you were the day before… self improvement is our goal.
The one question we get the most is “how long until I get my black belt?”. The answer to that depends on what it is you want from Karate, the more you train and practice the quicker the journey.
It’s important to note that the time taken to attain 1st Dan status (Black Belt) varies for Children and Adults, Children will not receive a Black Belt Rank before the Age of 12yrs. Even if the child started with us from the Age of 4 yrs (Ninja Program) the child will be graded to our Rank of Sho Dan Ho (Black Belt White Strips). Once that child turns 13yrs and displays the correct Skill Level, Maturity and Mindset required to grade to a 1st Dan, only then will an invitation be given.
New Kumite Athletes
Please be aware that we have large kumite squads from time to time which may include
competitors in your division and from other dojo’s and of course from within our club.
Athletes will be set up on set online under PHMA. If you have not used set online before we are happy to train you. It is the responsibility of the athlete and or parents to entry into tournaments themselves with a few exceptions which you will be advised on.
Our main interviews with Athletes and Parents are held at the EOY when we have all relevant information and dates from KV and AKF.
If at any stage throughout the year you have concerns or require extra feedback please make an appointment to see Sensei, often squad sessions have limited time to address all individual concerns. You are also welcome to ring anytime during during the day if you have any questions.
When Sensei is away on National coaching duties competitor classes may have a change of instructor depending on availability.
As we have a large core base of Athletes at State and National Level fundraising is often a difficult and time consuming exercise. We encourage you to look for sponsorship from your local community.
Our focus is always to provide the best possible programs to help develop all athletes at all levels.
